"I was born in El Salvador but live in Mexico. I bind books by hand.

"I've always been attracted to this type of artistic expression. My oldest brother taught me the art and showed me how to develop my ideas and convey them with greater confidence.

"At first, I'd help him with his work. I loved the colors he used and the rustic touch he gave to each of his designs. Watching him, I realized I wanted to write something in these beautiful journals.

"When I started crafting my own, I found it difficult to combine colors. My brother explained that the cover is the most important part of a notebook. It's the cover that inspires a person to write in it, the first thing they see.

"I especially like joining the cover with the pages. It that precise moment, I can see my idea come together and become something real. I take extra care when using paper with dried natural materials. In my opinion, they bring a touch of mysticism that awakens the sensitivities.

"Some of my materials are recycled, like paper and scraps of leather that I use to reinforce the spirals. I use textured papers that facilitate the design process and enhance the appearance.

"As a designer and artist, I've learned that our source of power is in letting the imagination fly free. Thanks to this concept, my mind works every day toward the next design.

"I hope to share my work with more people, to form a family and to pass on this incredible art to my children.

"The person who acquires one of my artisanal notebooks complements the creative process by writing down a beautiful experience or sharing a delicious recipe."
