"We're Francisco Javier and Carlos Ocampo from an artisan town in Mexico. When we were teens, my brother taught me to solder metals. As time went by, I became fascinated with things crafted from recycled scrap metal. Once you imagine the design, you can craft it and see how to make it worthy to be called a sculpture. It's incredible.

"As we were learning, we burned ourselves several times at first. We'd design things without shape or coherence and the results were disappointing. Even so, we persisted in trying over and over again until we were able to create figures that were authentic.

"Practice, perseverance and discipline became our best friends.

"We look for inspiration in each item we receive for recycling, from a screw, a metal bar, a washer or a sparkplug. We contemplate the piece and imagine where it would work in an image, where we could place it as part of a more detailed object.

"We use only recycled materials, whether metal scrap or auto parts. We love seeing how people react when they see our finished sculptures ? pieces created for a certain use that take on a new life in a piece of art.

"We're grateful to work at something we love. This motivates us to meet our goals each day and, although it isn't always easy, our love for our work compensates for it.

"Through our creativity and our designs, we want to create an ecological conscience in others for taking care of our environment. All of us, from the smallest creature to the human being, we are all a part of creation's great plan, as we show in all our designs."
