Juan Cardenas Arellano and Avencio Cardenas Arellano come from the state of Huancayo in Peru. Juan, born in 1952, is ten years Avencio's senior, but the two work together very well, their chemistry allowing each to perfectly complement the other. Avencio is very proud of one of his older works, "The Virgin of Guadalupe," which is on display in Mexico and has received very good reviews. "I lingered 20 days on this work, and I got the satisfaction of knowing it was pleasing to the people who see it. Nowadays, I am creating a new weave that will quickly be known."

Juan is a bit more quiet and is enchanted with weaving charming portrayals of little children. He loves capturing their expressions and the many different facets his daughters have exhibited that have moved him. The girls love that they can see themselves when they see their father's weaves. "My daughters are thrilled when they see themselves on the loom, so real is the portrayal of emotion. It is something magical that just cannot be described."
